How much does it cost to hire the hall?The main hall costs £10/hr to hire and includes use of the kitchen. The small room at the rear of the main hall cost £6.50/hr to hire, however, this has limited availability.

What activities can the hall be used for?A wide range of meetings and classes take place at the village hall. These in include exercise classes such as yoga, Pilates and Zumba, art classes, WI meetings, and Parish Council Meetings. See the calendar for details of public activities. The hall can also be hired for private events. Children’s’ birthday parties and other family events are popular, although we do not accept bookings for teenage parties (where the majority of guests are aged between 13 and 18) and wedding receptions.

How do I book the hall?Please visit the Booking page, to check availability, and then use the HallMaster system to make your Booking Request providing as much information as possible.

Is all the equipment and facilities in the hall included in the hire charge?The Wyche Institute is used during most weekdays by Home Grown Preschool and after school club. Please do not use the small back room unless you have made arrangement. It is quite obvious which equipment is theirs. In the kitchen there are two fridges, kettle and a cooker that you are free to use. The microwave and printer are not available for you to use.

Do I have to pay for setup time and clear up time?Please allow extra time in your booking to setup for your activity and to clear away afterwards when calculating the length of your booking. All time needed in the hall must be paid for. Please be aware that if you do not book sufficient time then other hirers may be inconvenienced.

What to do if somebody has an accident in the hall?All accidents occurring in the Hall or in the grounds should be entered in to the Accident Book. This is kept in the kitchen along with the First Aid Kit. If necessary call for emergency medical assistance. In case of fire or other major emergency at the Hall, contact the relevant emergency services Please let the bookings officer or another member of the hall committee know what has happened as soon as practicable. How do I use the Emergency Defibrillator?There is a defibrillator situated on the wall at the front of the Institute. This is maintained by the Malvern Wells Parish Council and is for public use in an emergency. In an emergency you must always phone 999. Do not try to access the device without phoning 999.

Where is the First Aid Box kept?There is a First Aid Pack in the kitchen by the cooker.

How late can we finish?The Wyche Institute is located in a residential neighbourhood and we ask that hirers respect that fact. We would ask that during your entire hiring time that you ask your guests to be thoughtful and that any amplified sound is kept to a reasonable level. All music must finish by 11.30

Can I visit the village hall to see if it is suitable for my needs?You are very welcome visit. A mutually agreed and convenient time can be arranged. wycheinstitute@gmail.com

Can I hire the institute for a party at night?The institute is great for a party but please read the points above. In addition, if the party is for a teenager we would insist on a significant amount of supervision by parents during the entire booking.

Can I sell alcohol in the hall?Yes. However, you will need to arrange for a Designated Premises Supervisor with Malvern Hills District Council.

What do I have to do at the end of the hire?Please make sure that all lights are off and that all doors are shut, including the doors to the kitchen and the toilets. As you leave make sure the door is locked and return the key to the caretaker.

What do I need to provide?Users need to provide all consumables that they plan to use in the hall. In addition, items like tea towels are not provided. Please bring your own. All rubbish must be removed by the users after the hire. Please bring rubbish bags to take away any rubbish you create.

Does the village hall have a licence?The Hall has a premises licence issued by Malvern Hills District Council authorising its use for the showing of films, production of plays, performance of live and recorded music and dancing. Any sale of alcohol must be authorised by a Temporary Events Notice issued by the Local Authority. Hirers must obtain a licence for the sale of alcohol.

How do I gain access to the village hall for my booking?You will collect the key from the caretaker’s house. You will be informed of details regarding this when you book.

Can I have a bouncy castle in the hall?Yes. You will need to arrange this directly with the supplier. Users must check with their bouncy castle providers that they have adequate insurance cover as the hall insurance will not cover them.

How big is the village hall?The Hall can accommodate 120 people. The dimensions of the main hall are length 12 m (39′) x width 7.5 m (24′) x height 4.3 m (14′). You can view a floor plan on this website.

What do I do with the rubbish / refuse?All rubbish must be removed from the hall by the users at the end of the hire. Please bring rubbish bags to take away any rubbish that you create.

How many people can the hall accommodate?This depends upon the layout of tables and chairs. The hall can accommodate 120 people with chairs. Sufficient crockery and cutlery is provide for 80 covers.

Can I hire the hall for a wedding reception?You would be very welcome to hire the hall for a wedding reception. Our website shows how nicely the hall can look for such an occasion.

Does the hall have car parking?Limited parking is available to the front of the hall on the access road to the Institute and School. Further on-road parking is available around the Institute but please DO NOT park outside the houses in Old Wyche Road, or on the road junctions. Give consideration to the local residents and the emergency services that need access to the School, Institute and local houses. DO NOT park where it says no parking. Their is a very good reason for this.

How is the heating controlled?The heating is controlled by the caretaker. Please do not adjust any of the heating. If it is too warm put the fans on and open a window. Occasionally on very cold days you may need to switch on the electric wall heaters. These will require putting in a pound coin into the meter and turning the white switch. There are clear instructions by the meter.

Is the Wi-Fi in the hall?Users in the hall can use the Wi-Fi. The access code is shown on the noticeboard in the hall and to the right of the stage near the door to the kitchen.

What equipment is provided in the kitchen?We do not provide cutlery, crockery, glasses or cooking utensils. There is a very small amount of cutlery in the kitchen drawer and a few cups and saucers in the cupboard.

Does the hall have disabled toilets?We have two toilet cubicles accessible on the ground floor without steps.

Does the hall have external lighting?The main door and the rear door both have press buttons that switch on outside lighting. These are friction switches that will switch off after a minute or two.

Where are the tables and chairs stored?Tables and chairs are stored in the Main Hall and on the stage. There are 24 red adult chairs and 4 folding tables in the main hall. Please only stack the chairs 4 high. There are 3 more large tables and 4 small tables on the stage. The small tables can be adjusted for little ones and there are 20 small chairs available. If more adult chairs are required, please ask.
